This enhanced power and volume is no small accomplishment. Each Boston soundboard is precisely tapered (not uniformly thick like most others) to allow maximum vibration. A wider case design accomodates a soundboard with greater surface area, and also allows the bridges supporting the strings to be placed farther away fromt he piano's rigid rim. The result is a sounboard that is both larger, and more resonant, than those found in other pianos of the same length.
You'll also hear another remarkable difference: a beautifully balanced, rich and clear sound. (Not the brittle, one-dimensional tone that is all too common in most comparably priced pianos.)
